Quick answers to common questions about using Arjie.
Arjie automatically creates local backups in your iPad's sandboxed Documents directory. To export these or sync configurations to another iPad, tap the **"Backup Board"** (Share Sheet icon) in the bottom-left toolbar. After passing the Parental Gate security check, you can share the profile file via AirDrop, Mail, or save it to your iCloud Drive.
Arjie features a mathematical **Parental Gate** that automatically locks the Edit Mode, Settings, Import, and Export features. Every time a child tries to toggle Edit Mode or open Settings, they must complete an addition security check. When you exit Edit Mode or close Settings, the gate immediately locks itself again.
Arjie uses the native speech synthesizer and voices installed on your iOS device. To download free high-quality child or adult system voices (such as Joelle or Noelle):
1. Open your iPad/iPhone **Settings** app.
2. Go to **Accessibility** > **Read & Speak** (under Vision) > **Voices** > **English**.
3. Download your preferred voice. Once installed, it will automatically appear in Arjie's Speech Settings picker.
No. Arjie is built with an offline-first architecture. All speech synthesis, haptics, configuration profiles, and custom photo-library selections are processed and stored locally on your device. We do not use trackers, analytics, or third-party ads, ensuring complete privacy.
